Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation Distributes Vs. Cancer Grants to 49 Hospitals Across the Nation

Blog |

Vs. Cancer awards grants annually to local children’s hospitals across the United States. With the help of our Vs. Cancer athletes, over $153,000 has been donated to children’s hospitals in 2021 and an additional $20,000 has been awarded to families in financial strain due to a child’s brain tumor diagnosis through the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation’s Butterfly Fund.
As a signature campaign of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, Vs. Cancer fundraising proceeds are split between child life and family support programs in local hospitals and national brain tumor research.

Here are three examples of what 2021’s Vs. Cancer grants helped to fund in hospitals across the nation:

At MD Anderson Children’s Hospital in Houston, TX the 2021 grant is helping fund the Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Program Scholarship, designed to provide funding to cancer patients and survivors who want to continue their education through an accredited trade school, undergraduate school, or graduate school.

At Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston Salem, NC Vs. Cancer helps fund a pediatric neuropsychologist for the pediatric brain tumor clinic, as well as gas cards, parking passes, prepaid cards for pharmacy co-pays, and other gift cards for families.
Upgraded technology and upgraded experience for celebrations to support interpersonal and social well-being for pediatric cancer patients is being funded through a Vs. Cancer grant at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital. Limited visitation and other infection prevention policies have isolated children with weakened immune systems. Normalcy is always a difficult concept for kids facing cancer. The funding through this grant will be able to provide the little extra buzz to help these children feel special in a hard time made even harder by a pandemic.

Thank you for being #VsCancer and helping provide these programs and resources to the kids and families that we serve.
