Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation Launches Lacrosse Vs. Cancer Ambassador Program, Adds Two New Baseball Vs. Cancer Ambassadors

Blog |

The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation’s Vs. Cancer program is excited to welcome its inaugural class of Lacrosse Vs. Cancer Ambassadors. Comprised of current and former coaches and players, Lacrosse Vs. Cancer Ambassadors represent the athletic community’s shared resolve to raise awareness and funds for a world without childhood brain tumors.

Started by pediatric brain cancer survivor Chase Jones, Vs. Cancer empowers athletes from across the nation to support children and families going through the biggest battle of their lives. The lacrosse community’s giving spirit is evident through their continued involvement in the mission to end pediatric brain tumors. To date, lacrosse programs have raised well over $1 million dollars to support lifesaving research and family support programs in local hospitals through their involvement with Vs. Cancer.

“We are grateful to see support for the Vs. Cancer mission continue to grow alongside the exciting sport of lacrosse,” says Vs. Cancer Director Rachel Mark. “Each member of this group has expressed an overwhelming commitment to the fight against the deadliest childhood cancer, and we are proud to partner with our ambassadors in an effort to help additional children and families through a pediatric brain tumor diagnosis.”

Vs. Cancer Ambassadors recognize firsthand the importance of supporting the childhood cancer community and the positive impact it has on their team. They will serve as a resource for other coaches and teams by answering questions about the program, sharing their inspiring success stories and working with athletic departments to spread Vs. Cancer’s mission and get more teams involved.

Serving as chairman of the Lacrosse Vs. Cancer Ambassadors in their first year is University of Massachusetts Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach, Greg Cannella. “I am proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Vs. Cancer,” says Cannella. “The dollars we help raise within the lacrosse community are critical to the care and support of the children served by the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. I look forward to increasing this support within the sport of lacrosse and beyond.”

The inaugural group of Baseball Vs. Cancer Ambassadors were announced in 2019. This year, we are excited to add two new Baseball Ambassadors: Jimmy Jackson, Associate Head Baseball Coach and Pitching Coach at James Madison University, and Lucas Jones, Head Baseball Coach at Lynchburg University. Both coaches have a passion for Vs. Cancer’s mission to end pediatric brain tumors and provide family support for children battling all types of cancer. We are proud to welcome them to the Ambassador team.
